Work took him to Hawaii so he took me to Hawaii! It was fantastic! I am so grateful I was able to go because it was over our first anniversary. We went to the Big Island and had an awesome time relaxing and exploring the island. (I learned how to add text to photos in Picasa from my sister Jen, now I love to do it!)
Hung out at this pool for several hours!
Check out the rocks in the background! We are not sure who Sheena is but her name was already there! We did learn that lava rock art is a lot of work that would be much easier with tennis shoes on instead of flip flops; totally worth it though!
We got to Kona early and had a few hours to fill before we could check-in. We turned the corner and there was Ross, you know we had to check it out. (We promise we did not spend the entire few hours we had in this one store:).
Black Sand Beach!
Cute little hut at the beach.
We went to the National Volcano Park. This is the steam venting out of an active volcano. They said if you come at night, you can see the glow of the lava in the walls of the caldera. We didn't stick around to see that, I believed them! This particular volcano last spewed lava in March of this year.
Rainforest! The one below is a lava tube that we walked through.
Huge crater from a volcano.
Kona Hawaii Temple.
All of this plus a couple beach trips, beautiful sunsets, and 1+ visits to the awesome shaved ice place (ice cream + shaved ice + syrup + sweetened condensed milk = Oh my deliciousness!). We had an awesome time and are so grateful we had the opportunity to go!
Yay for blogs! I loved seeing your cute face on here. This design is just darling and so YOU. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading about your recent trips--they sounded so heavenly. GREAT pics, too! So glad that I'll be able to keep in touch with you! I hope you are well!
